More about The Scottish Cafe

The Scottish Cafe & Restaurant is privately owned since 2009 by Victor & Carina Contini and is situated at the gardens entrance of the Scottish National Gallery on the Mound with iconic views to Princes Street Gardens.

We are passionately committed to sustainable practices and buy direct from a trusted network of over 70 Scottish artisan suppliers. We’re proud to be a hard working family business blessed with wonderful staff and suppliers. In fact we still buy from some of the producers our grandparents worked with. Tradition and taste really make our business what it is. You can have a closer look at our suppliers here.

We change our menus to reflect the seasons across all our venues to keep them fresh and exciting. These are supplemented by produce from our own one-acre Kitchen Garden on the outskirts of Edinburgh which provides us with herbs, vegetables and berry fruit.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY POLICY
Centotre Ltd is committed to growth through sustainable development, and respects and cares for the environment.

Our objectives are:

  • To source the best available, locally produced (where possible), ingredients whilst never sacrificing quality.
  • To minimise our water use and waste production.
  • To endeavour to find a secondary use for all our waste materials, or recycle where re-use is not possible. This includes the recycling of glass, cardboard, paper and plastic as well as food waste.
  • All our waste is removed by licensed contractors.

In addition, we ask all our suppliers to have an up-to-date environmental policy in place and to provide documentation to support this.

Our customers and clients are informed of our environmental initiatives and we aim to encourage their own awareness of the impact their business activities may have on the environment.

The Directors and Senior Management will develop action plans to ensure the policy is implemented and objectives are achieved against our targets.

This policy is frequently reviewed to ensure it is effective and necessary revisions are made as required.
