Next up in our popular Wine Wednesday wine tasting series in collaboration with Liberty Wines is the gorgeous Mandrarossa on 19th May. Note – this is a one off Tuesday event due to supplier availability.
These events are very informal and is meant to be a small intro to hopefully your new favourite wine whilst socialising. Whether you are a wine aficionado or simply enjoy great food and wine, we’ve got something for you.
The event will as always be hosted by our own Victor Contini and Mandrarossa’s export manager Mr Stephan Moccia and will consist of three fantastic wines and three cicchetti to match at the bargain price of £10 per person.
The Mandrarossa wines come from a selection of the best sites from Cantine Settesoli’s 6,000 hectares of vineyard, situated in southwestern Sicily and planted with 32 different grape varieties.
First produced in 1999, the Mandrarossa range was conceived after the diverse soils of the vineyards were mapped, enabling the winemakers to focus on what were then ranked their best sites. Under the leadership of co-operative president Giuseppe Bursi, consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini has sought to improve viticulture, which in turn has resulted in better wines.
These vineyards are situated close to the sea, where intense sunlight, moderating sea breezes, mild temperatures, multiple elevations and a myriad of different soil types combine to give the sort of grapes that Mimmo and Alberto are looking for. Soil specialist Pedro Parra has singled out limestone as the soil with the highest potential for quality wines.
