The monthly changing Cannonball Tasting menu is designed to celebrate many of Scotland’s Artisan suppliers and producers and the very best seasonal produce. Everything is made fresh in house and dictated by what is locally in season. It is a great way to get a sense of our natural larder, according to the seasons. Everything we serve at Cannonball has been grown, raised or caught in Scotland and we are incredibly proud of that.
Listed as Best Restaurants in Edinburgh in British GQ 2021
“It would be rude to come to Edinburgh and not visit a restaurant stocked entirely by Scottish suppliers, which also overlooks the castle, and so Cannonball must absolutely be added to your list. Situated in the former keeper’s lodge, you get to look out over the city’s most famous landmark while indulging in a menu of dishes that bring the best of Scotland to your plate, including plants from their acre kitchen garden, from the mint in the Mojitos to the lavender on your table.
The signature haggis cannonballs are a savoury delight, offset with pickled turnip and a Glengoyne whisky cream. The red mullet, served on quenelles of baby courgette, saffron aioli and a courgette flower deep fried until it tastes like a fairground donut, is a masterpiece that has to be eaten to be believed. The pork belly, from a farm in South East Scotland, run through with Stornoway black pudding like a coal seam in a canyon, is a masterful meeting of two geographical extremities of the country’s swine”
