The Scottish Cafe & Restaurant is currently closed to allow for the Scottish National Gallery project works.

We will be open in time for the Festival and we very much look forward to seeing you this summer.

Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram @TheScottishCafe for exciting news and updates!

We look forward to reopening in August 2019 with an even better and more exciting Scottish Cafe & Restaurant. Our favourite dishes and excellent team will still be with us but with the addition of a refreshed interior and new menu additions.

We are delighted to have opened our self service cafe Espresso in the main foyer of the Scottish National Gallery on Wednesday 2nd July. Join us for hot and cold drinks, delicious sandwiches, scones and a selection of home baking.

Our popular Cullen skink, fish and chips and award winning traditional Afternoon tea can be enjoyed at Cannonball Restaurant & Bar and we would be delighted to offer a complimentary glass of bubbly for anyone who quotes “TSC” when booking.

We are delighted to present Espresso, our self service cafe located in the main foyer of the Scottish National Gallery. Here we will be serving hot and cold drinks together with a small sandwich selection, sweet and savoury scones and delicious sweet treats, all made in house by our talented chefs and pastry team.

As with all our venues we will only use the freshest and finest produce from local Artisan suppliers and growers, showcasing the very best of what our beautiful country has to offer.

Note that we cannot take bookings for Espresso.

Opening Hours:

Monday to Sunday 10am to 5pm (last order 4.45pm)

We are passionately committed to our sustainable and environmental practices.

Sourcing – We purchase directly from a trusted network of over 70 Scottish artisan suppliers. We change our menus to reflect the seasons across all our venues to keep them fresh and exciting. Sourcing too from our own one-acre Kitchen Garden on the outskirts of Edinburgh which provides us with herbs, vegetables and berry fruit.

Environmental – We are committed to growth through sustainable development, and we respect and care for the environment. We endeavour to find a secondary use for all our waste materials or recycle where re-use is not possible. This includes the recycling of glass, cardboard and food waste. Wherever possible we aim to minimise our Energy consumption – water, electricity and gas use through training, improved practice and controls and measures of monitoring usage.

Social – Our community of our team and our suppliers is at the heart of our business.  We constantly develop and train our team to support their skills to help sustain them within the hospitality industry.  Their mental and physical health and wellbeing are integral to this.

These values allow us to support a wide community of suppliers living in rural communities around Scotland and in Italy. We know our suppliers value our choices. Equally, we appreciate your choice to support our sustainable business based and trading here in Edinburgh.
