You may have read that Apple has been ordered by the UK Government to give access to encrypted personal data stored on iCloud, apparently jeopardising our privacy. Do any of us really know what is private anymore? Someone is definitely listening to my inner most thoughts. Who else got a post on “swimming with your puppy in the Caribbean”? So tempting, I’d even leave Victor at home if that was an option. More like paddling in Portobello with Mr Rocco.
We normally say thank goodness January and February are over. March has always given us a spring in our step and we’re ready for the good months to come. This year we’re not going to let the October budget spoil that. The various hospitality industry surveys highlight choppy waters ahead. It’s a shame as 2024 had us feeling that the worst was behind us. We’re game for any challenge, regardless how taxing!
In celebration of brighter days ahead, we’re opening Contini George Street from 8am on Fridays to bring back those halcyon days of Edinburgh Coffee Morning.
Seeing regulars is as much fun for the team as we hope for you. The second round of hot drinks will be on us for any orders before 10am. Alina, Naomi and Marc be on hand to look after you all. It’s also National Employee Appreciation Day. Team treats for all our venues and more reasons to celebrate.
Many employers are forcing team back to the office. Working from home, less of an option. TWaT days no longer allowed (that’s Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), we’re giving you an excuse to come to work on Fridays. After you’ve had a successful morning you can finish with cocktails and oysters up at Cannonball Bar or Appertivo at Contini George Street; if you never left. Are Fish & Chips your Friday fancy, we’ve got that covered too at The Scottish Cafe to feed your soul.
Face to face, community, checking in on friends, over food and drinks might be good for all our business. Spill a little tea, we won't mind. Who doesn’t love a bit of gossip. Just don’t tell Apple.

Friday Coffee Mornings at Contini George Street
Contini George Street will be open from 8am on Fridays (second round of coffee on us before 10am).
We’ve always been a little hub for the business community. Bring back the BlackBerry, the muffin was as good as the phone. Maybe it’s time to dump the Apple and embrace berries instead.
