It’s personal

Good morning lovely people

I’ve learnt a new phrase: “Dial down the emotion”.

Who doesn’t love the Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks film “You’ve got mail”. Daughter No1’s favourite line is “Don’t cry shop girl.” A lot of people have been crying over the presidential results in America. They’re going to get what the minority feared but the majority have welcomed with blind faith.
We voted for the polar opposite but may have been blind to what we too will be getting.

The latest UK budget will be painful for everyone. Councils, charities, care homes will all be impacted. Businesses too will be taking this personally. The commercially focused won’t care about feelings. For the rest of us it’s unnatural to dial down the emotion when it’s the emotion that’s helped you thrive and survive.

This week I’d planned to send mail to our Chancellor of the Exchequer. She’s very busy working so won’t have time to read it. Sadly I fear her budget will hit those that Labour had promised to protect. Many will struggle to absorb the additional tax burden they will face in April. Will the Scottish Government Budget help make anything sweeter? Sadly, I imagine not. The American tourists who’ll be feeling flush may be a tiny token to help.

Nevertheless I am wondering how our Chancellor is feeling after the first British female Budget. It could be some legacy. Donald Trump is sure going to deliver his legacy. Boom for some and Brace yourselves for the rest. No shortage of emotions either way.

Ps: On Remembrance Sunday we remember those who have fallen past and present in the hope of finding freedom for all.

Thank you as always, yours affectionately

Carina
