Hello lovely people.
We can’t tell you how beautiful it is to see you when we get to deliver to your home. Your comments and thanks make us feel so appreciated and give us hope.
While it will be a month or so before it looks like we can welcome you at our restaurants it’s clear you want us to continue Contini at Home, which we are delighted to be able to do.
Some good news – we’ve extended our delivery area to include anywhere within the Edinburgh City Bypass, including Balerno, Currie, Musselburgh and Dalkeith.
Our new menu is listed below, and the new images will be updated on Wednesday when we start cooking.
To give you an insight into a day at Contini, we’re harvesting from the Kitchen Garden first thing. The garden is coming into its own, and in truth we’re struggling to keep on top of it, but nature is providing and we’ve got beautiful wild elderflower our amazing salad leaves and herbs, which are in almost every dish, lovage and our four varieties of fresh mint leaves are taking over the embankment. It’s an energising start to the day.
Then we’re heading in and I’m getting stuck in at the sink and cooking.
Temperature checks for all the team on arrival and all the necessary hygiene checks have been signed off. It’s a fact of life but be assured working in the venue now is helping us plan for when we are eventually able to welcome you all back.
Alessia, has checked all the orders and we spend about 40 minutes checking them all off before heading down to the kitchen. Apron on! Apron and a mask is a whole new look. The mask is a slight challenge as I’m getting spots on my wee cheeks. It’s not the quality control of the desserts, honest!
Chef Marcin and Odelia are busy already making the Genovese sponge for the tiramisu with Patrizia’s amazing Phantassie Organic Produce Organic eggs, our focaccia with rosemary from the kitchen garden is proving, meatballs, gnocchi and our lenticchie and butter sugo are all bubbling away. The smell in the kitchen is amazing.
We blast chill everything before we start packing. Then it’s all go. We’re using Vegware 100% compostable packaging. It’s all made from plants and you can compost all of it. It’s quite amazing.
Checked and double checked, satnav inputted and we’re off to deliver to you. Within less than 10 hours produce from our garden is on your kitchen table.
Heading to Naples, Amalfi and Alberobello this week.
Happy holidays in your dreams and delicious food in your tummies from Contini at Home.
Big hug to you all (even if it’s not allowed!)
Carina and Victor
