Happy Easter lovely people

Easter for many will make you think of chocolate, spring lamb (roasted with garlic and rosemary!), eggs or hot cross buns. For some it is core to their faith and the cross symbolising hope and new life.

My Christian upbringing, while it no longer lives in a church, had a message of kindness which still steers the choices both Victor and I make. “Love thy neighbour as thyself” Of course there are times that I will forget. When we are hurt or confused, it can be hard to be kind. When we’re vulnerable, kindness can be far from our thoughts.

Talking to so many over the last week I am struck by how different people are coping with this Lockdown.

I’ve mentioned this before, while some are just bored, I can also see many feeling fragile. Fragility either physically, financially, socially or mentally. It comes in many forms and manifests differently for each of us at different times.

My message this week is a simple one. Let’s all remember to be kind, patient and tolerant. Skills I’ve been developing more throughout Covid and remind myself of daily.

Coming out of Lockdown for some will be harder than others.

Some of us will need confidence to get back out and about, others like Nonna G, have already written to the FM complaining enough is enough!

For our front line service teams; in retail, beauty, visitor attractions and hospitality who will have to be “on form” for the general public they will be adjusting too.

We are re-learning from last year and re-adjusting our own emotions and behaviours. We’re here to help you, please help us. A few seconds of thought before we act can make a huge difference in many situations. I’m no angel. I am very aware of past indiscretions.

The team is at George Street today with Victor and I preparing and packing all your Easter Sunday orders. We hope you have a lovely day. If you aren’t able to share today with loved ones, we’re all with you in spirit, the holy spirit is with you too (Nonna G asked me to add that in!).

Hope for a little more peace of mind for all of us and our new life finding a level of normality again.
