Erringtons Victory | Contini

Victory for injustice but at what price.

Firstly we are all so relieved that our dear friends the Erringtons have won their fight to clear their name following the tragic incident two years ago. Sheriff Robert Weir, QC, has ruled that Errington Cheese did not breach safety standards at its factory and has lifted an order stopping the sale of Lanark Blue and Corra Linn.

The independent cheese shops like Valvona & Crolla and Ian Mellis and the independent chefs like Fred and Neil who have continued to sell Erringtons cheese throughout this horrendous injustice. And for all the wonderful customers who bought and supported these choices and bought their cheese. Thank you.

An enormous thank you to Joanna Blythman for keeping this very much in the public eye and continuing the fight to overcome this tragedy.

Slow Food and the Artisan Foods likewise did a wonderful job talking and keeping the story going.

It takes great courage to support the underdog or the team that seems to be on the losing side.

In a culture built around individuals and not around communities the temptation to run for cover to protect your own leads to a very lonely existence and a very dull and processed life.

Let’s stand up for good, let’s stand up for honest and hard working, let’s stand up for our heritage, let’s stand up for our community, let’s stand up for our friends and say thank you Humphrey, Selina and Joanna for fighting this fight. We can now ALL make sure it was worth it.

At the Scottish Cafe we will be delighted to offer a wee Lanark blue canape to all our guests to celebrate.
We are waiting for a new delivery to include Corra Linn, hopefully this weekend or early next week.
Canapes will be available as soon as this delivery arrives and throughout Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight. (to include 16th September)

Lanark blue and Corra Linn are available in all our restaurants.

Watch this space Contini George customers – a Scottish cheese board coming to a table near you very soon.
