The best view in the City for St Valentine’s – it’s a lottery at Cannonball!
9 February 2015
Cannonball restaurant at the top of the Royal Mile has a window table with perfect views of neighbouring Edinburgh Castle. It is always requested by romantic diners but on Valentine’s Day always requested by romantic diners but on Valentine’s Day demand is such the owners have had to resort to drastic measures.
“We’ve had so many requests for our Castle view table that we’ve had to introduce a special draw to decide who will sit there on the night”, said owner Carina Contini. “With the Castle floodlit against the dark winter night, it is an incredibly beautiful outlook so we’re not surprised the window table has been in such demand. We believe a simple draw to decide who gets it is fairest to everyone and will have a bottle of champagne to help the winning couple celebrate their good luck”.
Cannonball is Carina and Victor Contini’s third Edinburgh restaurant and showcases Scottish food at it’s very best. It opened last year in partnership with the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and gets its name from a cannonball lodged in the outside wall of the 17th century building. On Valentines night Cannonball will be serving a special 5 course tasting menu costing £70 per person.
