A prime has been committed

Good morning lovely people

What’s the bigger crime? The Bond franchise being sold to Amazon Prime or Gordon Ramsay going team Flora (the margarine brand).

Bond should be a non negotiable 007 not a potential 36DD.It feels like we’ve sold the Crown Jewels to the USA.

Gordon’s latest advert, “skip the cow” is a message that anyone committed to natural food would think is non-negotiable too.  Maybe he’s looking for a new post as minister for lab grown meat.

We love cows, real ones. For our dairy intolerant friends (we know many) margarine can be a life saver if you want to bake a cake but if you have a choice, the taste of butter is superior, the health benefits equally so.  Not forgetting that animal welfare and sustainable standards in the UK are some of the highest in the world.  We need messaging that reinforces the super powers of cows not diminishes their worth. The pescatarians in our wider community are receiving the nutritional balance without meat, yes it can be done, but I’m an omnivore that feeds vegans with natural, seasonal plant based food.  Olive oil wins over processed fats every day of the week.

Providence and authenticity is what we’re here for.  Our Kitchen Garden and Oliveto are pesticide free/ organic, a deliberate choice to provide the soil with as much support as possible to create the best nutritional results as possible.

Healthy choices will become the next generation's educational, and sadly financial divide. We’re all becoming more aware of the powers of natural food. From olive oil to butter. Ginger to matcha. Sardines to sirloin. Knowing when to eat and what to eat to get the best for our bodies and minds will become the choices many will make for fitness, health, sanity and vanity. (I’m still addicted to sugar, don’t think I’ll ever get over that one).

My husband”ry” on the other hand is in a real dilemma. Victor wants to buy a tractor for the Oliveto. I’ve not seen him for three weeks. FaceTime is an excellent way to keep our marriage healthy too. It’s amazing how few arguments you have when you’re not in the same room or country. We’ve agreed to not buy anything until we’ve done a whole year of growing.  Thankfully Amazon Prime hasn’t started selling agricultural equipment.

Germany has followed Ireland and dramatically reduced VAT on restaurants to 7%. Compared to our stingingly high 20% it’s a stark contrast to how their governments understand and value our sector.

Jeremy Clarkson and I have one thing in common, apart from a love of steak.  We both thought Trump was a good thing for American business. The thought of less regulation and lower tax could be an opportunity for growth, compared to what we are facing here. How wrong we both were. It’s looking like America could be entering car crash territory both at home and worse abroad. Maybe that’s why Donald’s bought a new Tesla? I’m eating humble pie, made with Flora as punishment.

While Nicola Sturgeon is leaving Scottish politics for now; Mark Carney, our former Governor of the Bank of England has stepped into Justine Trudeau’s shoes in Canada. It’s looking like he’s a man on a mission. He’s also got a more impressive CV than Rachel Reeves.  Proving yet again provenance really is best.

Keep well and keep buttering up those you love. They’re the ones that keep us in our prime.
